Jets extend Ryan 2 years, give Tannenbaum new deal

NEW YORK -- The Jets have signed coach Rex Ryan to a two-year contract extension, and signed general manager Mike Tannenbaum to a new five-year deal -- keeping both with the franchise through the 2014 season.

The team announced both deals Friday, two days before it reports for training camp in Cortland, N.Y. Tannenbaum's deal was signed last month.

The bold and brash Ryan receives his extension after just one season in which he led the Jets to a 9-7 regular-season record and within one game of the Super Bowl.

Tannenbaum, the team's general manager since 2006, has earned a reputation as one of the league's most active wheelers and dealers. He has also made several shrewd draft picks, including Darrelle Revis and Nick Mangold.
