Derülo gives free concert at Sears in Woodfield

Sears launched a national online campaign Thursday to promote its new Now + Here shops with a free concert for 400 fans at its Woodfield Shopping Center store by the hot pop artist Jason Derülo.

To be admitted to the Schaumburg performance, fans had to make a one minute video audition tape demonstrating their personal style and explaining why they should be chosen as a Now + Here Rock the Scene reporter. Hoffman Estates-based Sears is conducting a national online contest at sears.com/livenation to select 20 such reporters.

The reporters will be decked out in new fashions from the Now + Here shop at an exclusive styling event, awarded a music pass to any concert at a Live Nation venue within 30 days, given private car service to and from the show, get a professional videographer to report on fashion and music from each event, in addition to having backstage passes, artist access and photo pit passes at 50 designated shows.

Derülo, 21, is a singer, songwriter, actor and dancer whose debut single, "Whatcha Say," in May 2009 sold more than 5 million digital downloads. He released his first album in March and has been playing as an opening act for Lady Gaga.

Sears said Now + Here sections are being located near the mall entrance to its stores and will feature trendy clothes for fall for juniors and young men. They will offer clothes under the names Battle Gear, Girly Grunge, Biker Chic and Sweet Dreams, as well as exclusive and new brands for juniors such as Bongo and Rebecca Bon Bon, and Amplify for young men.
