Reckless spending will be remembered
Regarding Diane Niesman's July 22 Fence Post letter, "Don't forget what GOP is doing now," I certainly won't. I'm thankful that conservatives are trying to keep our country from going bankrupt given a tidal wave of unrestricted spending.
Liberals like Diane seem to find facts inconvenient. If she did some homework she would find that the GOP was in favor of extending unemployment benefits. What she did not say (either omitted or didn't know) is that the GOP wanted the $30 billion-plus price tag paid for from the remains of the stimulus package or some other known fund.
Spending borrowed funds from China and printing money is not compassion, but theft. President Obama stated clearly that for every dollar the Congress spends, a dollar must be available from some known fund. But this administration's uncontrollable spending suggests another agenda.
Diane, I hope you will remember in a few years that it was your liberal friends who destroyed the future for our nation's children and grandchildren and pushed our country into economic ruin. One cannot continue to spend money one does not have without severe consequences. Try it at home.
I do have compassion for my unemployed friends, but having talked to several of them, their position is that they would still be employed were it not for the irresponsible spending and anti-business policies of liberals who now control this country. My unemployed friends would like economic stability and their jobs back, not endless unemployment checks.
I will certainly remember this in November and vote to remove the people (including Republicans) who are spending our country into economic destruction.
