Island Lake man guilty of unlawful restraint; not guilty of rape
An Island Lake man accused of attacking a woman he was seeing in his home in 2007 was found guilty of two counts of unlawful restraint but not guilty of criminal sexual assault in McHenry County Court Friday.
Wayne Noska, 41, was accused of raping a 27-year-old woman, choking her and slamming her head against the floor after a night out drinking in August 2007. Authorities said Noska had seen the woman talking to another man at the bar before the incident.
McHenry County State's Attorney Lou Bianchi said jurors deliberated for about six hours Friday, a day after they deliberated for five hours without reaching a verdict.
"My sense is that this was a very intelligent group of people," Bianchi said. "It was a composite of wide and differing backgrounds; a very intelligent group. We certainly respect their judgment and decision."
Sentencing information was not immediately available.
