McHenry woman tried to blow up SUV

A 37-year-old McHenry woman was charged with two felonies this week after authorities say she tried to blow up a man's sport utility vehicle with a homemade explosive device.

Lucio Osorio of the 1100 block of Manchester Mall was charged with possession of explosives and criminal damage to property, charges stemming from a July 17 incident on the 1600 block of North Industrial Drive in McHenry, authorities said.

Police say Osorio slashed all four tires on a Mercury Mountaineer and intended to put a gasoline-soaked explosive device made of aluminum foil and a 10-foot wick under the engine block, according to court records.

Osorio faces four to 15 years in prison if convicted. The court has ordered Osorio not to have any contact with the man they believe she targeted. She is scheduled to be in court next on Friday for a bond hearing. She must post $7,500 to be released.
