Registration at Grayslake District 46:Grayslake Elementary District 46 will host a central registration for incoming students over three days. It'll be at Frederick School, 595 Frederick Road, Grayslake. Proof of residency will be required with proper documentation. Registration is: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 10; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 12. Officials said parents who don't show proper documentation of where they live will not receive their student's packet for the upcoming academic year. Officials said lines are expected to be longest for the first day of registration.Antioch Battle of the Bands:Local teenage rockers will compete in the Antioch "Rock Rumble", a battle of the bands starting with the first two rounds Friday, July 23. Eight bands will compete at the William E. Brook Bandshell at 900 Skidmore Drive, with the first band taking the stage at 6:30 p.m. The contest finals will be Friday, Aug. 6. There is a $5 cover charge.Waukegan man faces charges: A Waukegan man faces numerous charges after he crashed his truck in McHenry en route to the home of a person police said he'd been harassing by phone. Edgar Acosta, 27, of the 500 block of North Butrick Street, faces a Class 4 felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding, misdemeanor charges of telephone harassment and assault and numerous traffic offenses, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's news released. According to that release, the sheriff's office received a report of telephone harassment from an unincorporated area near McHenry. When deputies arrived, they were told Acosta was en route from Waukegan and he had threatened to cause great bodily harm to the resident. Deputies encountered Acosta, who was driving a Chevy Suburban near Route 120 and Chapel Hill Road in McHenry. He refused to stop and continued on Chapel Hill Road, crashing his truck at the intersection of River and Elmkirk roads in McHenry. According to the release, Acosta jumped out of the truck and ran toward the victim's house. He was subdued by police and taken to the county jail.
