Hula at Hawaiian luau in Schaumburg on Friday
Don't think of a Hawaiian holiday as a distant or impossible dream.
Your Polynesian paradise could be just hours away...
The Schaumburg Park District will put on its annual Atcher Luau from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, at Atcher Island Water Park at 730 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.
Games will be played throughout the evening while a DJ will spin a string of tropical tunes.
"This is a great tropical evening of family fun," said Jen Gorczyca, aquatics supervisor for the park district.
Atcher Island's water slides, circular drop slide, children's sprayground and wading pool will be available only to luau participants.
All participants will receive a lei, hot dog, chips and a drink.
But don't crash this party unannounced. Preregistration is required by calling (847) 490-7015 or visiting parkfun.com.
The cost is $10 for park district residents and $15 for nonresidents. Children 2 years old and under are free.
