Thunderstorms, tornado threat in Lake, McHenry counties
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for central Lake County and east-central McHenry Counties until 11 p.m. Thursday. The radar showed a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado estimated to hit Round Lake around 10:55 p.m. and moved to Grayslake by 11 p.m., the National Weather Service website stated. Other communities on alert included Fox Lake, Round Lake Heights, Hainesville, Round Lake Beach and Round Lake Park, the site said. Round Lake and Wauconda police confirmed they sounded the tornado warning sirens after the warning went into effect.
