Lights for Fielders:Officials from the Lake County Fielders independent-league baseball team announced Monday that home games now can be played under the lights. The Fielders are playing on a temporary diamond with portable stands in Zion at Green Bay Road and Route 173. The recently installed lights will allow the Fielders to host the Kansas City T-Bones in the club's first home night game at 7 p.m. Monday, July 26. Construction on a permanent stadium for the Fielders is expected to occur after the Northern League season for the team ends in September.Library board to meet:The Cook Memorial Public Library board will meet today for the first time at the district's new Vernon Hills library. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the library, 701 Aspen Drive. The facility opened July 10. Personnel and construction matters are among the subjects to be discussed.Electronics collection in Grayslake:Grayslake will host an electronics collection event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the village's public works facility, 585 Berry Ave., on the corer of Route 83. Items that'll be accepted include personal computers, monitors, computer drives, keyboards, modems, mainframes, scanners, printers, telephones, televisions, microwave ovens, holiday lights, shredders and small household appliances. No one at the facility will accept broken glass, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, large household appliances, lead acid batteries, electric fixtures, fluorescent light bulbs, compact discs, packaging materials, software disks, tapes, liquid or chemical waste.
