Hippies now running government as reckless as 'Woodstock' generation
The events of 1969 gave us a tale of two generations.
On July 20 a crowning achievement occurred when Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon and uttered the immortal words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
This was the culmination of JFK's goal of greatness for America and the generation that made this achievement believed in "yes we can."
NASA's men and women worked for a common goal and exhibited the highest team effort from a generation taking responsibility.
On Aug. 15, "Woodstock" took place on a New York Farm with more than 400,000 avid music fans attending to see their idols perform live. Their fashions reflected the youth sentiment with military jackets adorned with peace signs, and other trends including long, unkempt, wild hair and headbands showed the feelings of anti-establishment. It was more than live music, but free love, rolling in the mud, smoking pot and exhibiting a generation having no responsibility for their actions.
Today, that "Woodstock" generation is running our government in the same reckless manners. They are educated men and women, but do not have a common-sense approach to values of the prior generation and, without having to earn the amenities in life, they opted for employment security of big government.
God help us.
