Time for Circuit Judge Popejoy to resign or be forced out
The DuPage County courthouse has a reputation as a very serious place. As a citizen who follows the news, I am usually pleased with the tough sentences handed out by judges to criminals.
In the metropolitan area, DuPage County is respected and feared for its law and order value. And it is squeaky clean. That is what we want from our county courthouse. I know that when I have dealings at the courthouse (civil matters) that I make sure my shirt is buttoned down and I am on my best behavior.
Which brings us to Circuit Judge Kenneth L. Popejoy. Mr. Popejoy seemingly lost his mind last week in a traffic matter, and then hid behind the advice of his lawyer when the police arrived at his house. Your honor, it is time to resign. Your behavior was so bizarre that you cannot honorably serve the people of DuPage County.
If you do not resign, then I suggest that you are forced out. We here in DuPage County do not want the "dirty" courtrooms that have existed in Cook County. This is the only way to maintain the integrity of the courthouse and the respect of the citizenry.
