Hanover Park COPS picnic set

The Hanover Park Police Department hosts its COPS Day Picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Community Park, 1919 Walnut Ave. The free event will feature face painting, kids games, free hots dogs and refreshments and, weather permitting, a police vehicle and helicopter display.

There will be a demonstration with the department's new canine, Ajax. Residents can also buy a ticket and "dunk a cop" in the water tank and try to win a children's bicycle raffle. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics Illinois. The department hopes these picnics foster better relationships with community members.
