Arlington Heightsbull; Theodore K. Larson, 47, of the 200 block of South Parklane, Palatine, was arrested around 1:15 a.m. July 3 at Cypress and Arlington Heights roads and charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia (digital scale and brass pipe), and resisting a peace officer. He refused to get out of his car and struggled during the arrest, reports said. His court date is Aug. 12. He has two prior convictions for DUI, reports said.bull; Patrick F. Karney, 27, of the 1500 block of Orth Court, Wheaton, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. July 1 at Jewel, 1860 S. Arlington Heights Road, and charged with felony retail theft. Reports said he took nine packs of razor blades, 10 packages of allergy tablets, 12 packages of heartburn medication, and gum. Value was estimated at $855. The offenders left a note saying the victim was not handicapped. Police believe the person was handicapped. During the same time and on the same block, burglars stole a GPS unit, cell phone charger cord, and digital camera out of a 2008 Honda Element. His court date is Aug. 4.Mount Prospectbull; A man stole 20 bottles of vodka from Jewel-Osco, 333 E. Euclid Ave., around 11 a.m. July 3. He hid them in one of the store's hand-held baskets and carried the basket out the north side entrance door. Value was estimated at $575. He left in a Chrysler Sebring coupe driven by a female accomplice.bull; Vandals smashed the glass patio door at home on the 1800 block of Oneida Lane between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. July 6. Damage was estimated at $500.bull; A witness saw four or five teenage boys, 13-14 years old, standing around a Dumpster at Robert Frost North School, 1805 N. Aspen Drive, around 7:45 p.m. July 2. The witness saw one of the boys toss something into the Dumpster and saw the container catch fire. The Dumpster belongs to ARC Disposal of Mount Prospect.
