A military man could help Congress

Mark Kirk's recent press conference was noteworthy for his point about how important it is to have members of Congress who serve in the military.

Like Representative Kirk, they know how committed our young men and women in uniform really are to their mission, even when it runs longer than expected. They are also less likely to place politics above success and the safety of our troops.

Even if Representative Kirk was not precise each time he described his military experience, the fact that he has significant, current experience cannot be denied. It would be extremely helpful to the Senate's handling of foreign policy if we voted in another member of the military like Mark Kirk.
