Visitation, funeral arrangements set for Probert

Visitation and funeral arrangements are set for Bob Probert, who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks and died Monday at age 45 after suffering chest pains while boating with his family.

Visitation is Wednesday and Thursday at the Families First Funeral Home in Windsor, Ontario, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the Christian Fellowship Church in Windsor. Cremation to follow.

Donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family, and donations can be made through the funeral home's website at Familiesfirst.net.

Probert played for the Red Wings in 1985-1994 and for the Blackhawks in 1995-2002. In 461 games for the Hawks, he collected 49 goals, 125 points and 1,210 penalty minutes. For his career, the Windsor native scored 163 goals and added 221 assists and 3,300 penalty minutes in 935 NHL games over 17 seasons.

He is survived by a wife and four children.
