Westmont police investigating possible gunshots

Westmont police said they are continuing to investigate a report of possible gunshots that led them to block off portions of the Oakwood subdivision late Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said they believe area residents no longer are in danger, but the probe into what happened is ongoing.

Police received a call at 2:21 p.m. from a man who said he heard three gunshots near the 700 block of North Blackhawk Drive, authorities said.

Portions of the neighborhood were blocked off and sections of Ty Warner Park, at the intersection of Blackhawk Drive and Plaza Drive, were evacuated.

There were no reports of injuries.
