Fireworks in Pingree GroveCome celebrate Fourth of July weekend in Pingree Grove. The village is planning a celebration that runs from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, and will be held in Cambridge Lakes by the baseball fields at Routes 72 and 47. The event includes children's games, a disc jockey, food, drinks from Jamba Juice and a 33-foot-tall slide for children, with a smaller slide for younger ones. The evening culminates with a fireworks show at dusk. Wristbands cost $5 and it's $6 to use the slides all night. Wing Park acts include: Mr. Myers, a Caribbean rock band, tonight; New Invaders, inspired by the British Invasion, Woodstock and the Vietnam anti-war movement; and R Gang, an RB band. Lords Park bands include the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Dixieland Banjo Buddies and Rhythm Rockets, a blues band. Wing Park shows are from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays; Lords Park shows are from 2-3:30 Sundays. If you don't buy one by then, you could face a $100 fine. Owners could be penalized $25 for buying the stickers, but not displaying them by July 1. You can buy stickers at village hall or by visiting foxrivergrove.org. The prices goes up July 1 or Aug. 1, depending on what sort of sticker your vehicle requires.
