Man injured in Mundelein car accident

An man from an unincorporated area near Mundelein had to be extricated from his vehicle Friday evening after flipping over in Fremont Township.

The man, who's believed to be in his 70s, was alone driving north around 5:15 p.m. on Diamond Lake Road when he drifted onto the shoulder near Hickory Street and rolled the vehicle on its side, Countryside Fire Protection District Batallion Chief Brian Garrity said.

The man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries. He wasn't cited in the incident.

Crews closed Diamond Lake Road for about 20 minutes while working at the scene.
