Your news: Garden Club welcomes community to upcoming events

Members of the Garden Club of South Barrington enjoyed a trip to The Growing Place Thursday, June 3, a retail nursery and flower farm, in Aurora. Upon arrival, members were given a presentation and slide show on the topic of "Garden Art." The group then toured the gardens and enjoy the vast plant selections.

Join members of the Garden Club of South Barrington for the following upcoming programs, guests are always welcome:

• 8:45 a.m. Thursday, July 1, meet at the South Barrington Park District, for a bus Trip to Rich's Foxwillow Pines in Woodstock. Richard Eyre will give a presentation on dwarf conifers. Learn how to select the appropriate tree based on growth habit and sun requirements.

• 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, meet at the South Barrington Park District, for car-pool to Steve Maggos Dahlia Garden in Carpentersville. Maggo will discuss the varieties of Dahlias available and teach proper care and maintenance.

Meetings of the Garden Club of South Barrington are held or originate at the South Barrington Park District, 3 Tennis Club Lane, at 9 a.m. on the first Thursday morning of the month, year-round. The club is open to all residents and nonresidents. Programs consist of speakers, hands-on-projects and bus trips to points of interest in the area, followed by a lunch at a local restaurant. Membership fee is $25 for South Barrington residents and $35 for nonresidents.
