Arbortheater concerts:The Arbortheater summer concert series in Vernon Hills begins Thursday, June 24, with the Tin Horse Band. Concerts are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. Future performances are: Soda, July 8; Jammin' Daddies, July 29; and Jazz Spectrum, Aug. 12. The Vernon Hills Memorial Arbortheater is at 50 Fairway Drive, just north of the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex. The concerts are free, and visitors are invited to bring a blanket, picnic basket and lawn chairs. The main lot is blocked for people with disabilities and seniors, and general concert parking is in the adjacent Rogers Executive Park II. In case of rain, the concerts are held at the Sullivan Center, 635 N. Aspen Drive.Animal rescue garage sale:Animal Education and Rescue of Lake County will hold its second annual fundraising garage sale on Friday, June 25, Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27. The sale will be at 18446 Streamwood Court in unincorporated Lake County near Gurnee. Toys, household items, clothing, furniture, records, collectibles and more will be available. Animal Education and Rescue is a nonprofit humane society. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. All proceeds will go to the organization. For more information, call (847) 816-0831.CLC lines up art exhibitions:Eight diverse art exhibitions, ranging from concepts of a mythical paradise to air and space photography, are planned for the 2010-11 season at College of Lake County in Grayslake. The action will be in the college's Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art. All events are free and open to the public. The first exhibit, "From Here to Paradise," will run July 9 through Aug. 13. Gallery hours for July 9 through July 30 will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from Aug. 2 to Aug. 13. A free opening reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. July 9, with live piano music, food and beverages.
