Fleury considered playing himself in stage play
CALGARY, Alberta -- Former NHL star Theo Fleury says he considered playing himself in a stage play about his life. He then decided it's better to let an actor do it.
Alberta Theatre Workshops is developing a play called "Don't Quit Before The Miracle." The script is based on Fleury's autobiography, "Playing With Fire," which was released last year.
Fleury had a long and successful NHL career despite battles with drugs and alcohol and has been open about his struggles with addiction.
Last fall he alleged in his book he was abused by a former coach. Winnipeg police are investigating.
