Your news: 'Lion Doc' receives club's highest honor

Lions Clubs International presented Dr. Donald Dreessen with its International President's Gold Medal for Leadership, the highest award the association grants to its members.

The award was given to Dreessen in recognition of his commitment to public service. His hard work and compassion for people, who need help, serve as an example to both the Lions and the community.

"Lion Doc" has been a member of the Mount Prospect Lions Club since 1962; has served as its president; and has been named "Lion of the Year."

"It is very rewarding to help fulfill community needs, and it is a great honor to be presented with this award," said Dreessen.

"Our club is very proud of Lion Doc and all he has done to help others," said Ronald Habel, president of the Mount Prospect Lions Club. "We look forward to continuing to serve side-by-side with this dedicated and driven Lion."

Lions are men and women, who identify needs within their communities and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Mount Prospect Lions Club, contact Lion Tom Laws at mtplion@alphadsgn.com or (847) 357-9590.
