Wild assistant Ramsey steps down
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild assistant coach Mike Ramsey is stepping down after 10 seasons with the franchise.
The 49-year-old Ramsey joined the Wild for their inaugural season in 2000-01, serving under Jacques Lemaire for nine of those seasons. He stayed on staff for Todd Richards' first year last season, but has decided to move on.
Wild GM Chuck Fletcher thanked Ramsey for his "10 great years of service to this organization."
Ramsey has deep roots in Minnesota. He is a Minneapolis native and helped lead the University of Minnesota to the 1979 national title before moving on to an 18-year pro career that included four All-Star appearances. He also was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic team that won the gold medal.
