Concert in Island Lake

The Island lake recreation department Lake is set to host its first Concert in the Park on Friday, June 18 at Converse Park on Route 176. The rock band Trading Betty from Paddock Lake, Wis. will perform live at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase at the park.

A concert and a crafts fair

The Lakes Area Community Band and the Community Chorus will kick off Antioch's summer concert series Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The series will be held at the Antioch Bandshell and begin with a salute to the troops. Also this weekend is Antioch's summer arts and crafts faire, which begins on Toft Street starting Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ela Library remains open Sundays

Officials at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich said the library doors will remain open seven days a week this summer. In previous years, the library closed on Sundays during the summer months. As library patronage there has risen, officials say the change is a response to the community needs. The hours are: Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
