18-year-old dies after being dragged by car in Chicago
Police in Chicago say an 18-year-old Bellwood woman attending a graduation party has died after she was struck by a car and dragged 30-40 feet.
The woman who died in the Saturday evening incident was identified as Nakella Harper.
The Cook County medical examiner on Sunday ruled Harper's death an accident. Chicago police say charges aren't pending in the case.
Family members say she was to start classes at a community college on Monday and had been on the cheerleading, track and swimming teams at Proviso West High School in Hillside.
Chicago police say officers found Harper pinned under a four-door vehicle. Police say Harper tripped, fell and was accidentally struck and dragged by the vehicle.
