Prospect's Martin resigns
Brenda Martin, a special-education teacher at Prospect High School, has resigned her post as the school's varsity softball coach.
The former three-sport Schaumburg High School athlete and all-area catcher led the Knights to their winningest season in school history in 2007.
Prospect was 30-5 in 2007 and won the Mid-Suburban League East Division title under Martin. She also led the Knights to a pair of 20-win seasons in her five years as head coach.
"I enjoyed passing along my love of the game to all my past players," said Martin, whose team was 14-19 this spring and second in the MSL East behind state power Elk Grove. "I'll miss it, but I will have more time with my family and to explore other things."
Martin does a lot of work on the autism spectrum at Prospect.
"So I can go back to school and work on my expertise in special education, too," Martin said.
