Here's why we love Navistar

OK, the truth is Navistar is a great company. Just a month ago I participated in the Walk For Babies fundraiser, and Navistar was the largest corporate sponsor.

The other day I was talking with the mayor of Warrenville about the support Navistar gives to the city: building parks, participating in local festivities, etc. I have a friend who commented to me how the Navistar MRAP (Mine Resistant Armor Protected) vehicle had saved his son's life while serving in Iraq. This man was glowing with gratitude. It made me proud to have Navistar in my community.

I feel the same pride every time I see a school bus with the Diamond International or IC Shield (A Navistar company) brand logo. Almost every bus you see has one of these. You see the Diamond International logo on most medium-to-large-sized trucks. We should all feel a great sense of community pride to be associated with such a successful company.

This company has a long and proud history in Chicago and, especially, DuPage County. They have provided jobs and contributed to our economy for over 100 years. A few people have taken it upon themselves to slander this great company, our local politicians and a few private citizens for their own self-interest. You know what? The rest of us want to apologize for their actions. And just want to say: We love you, Navistar.
