Click It or Ticket

During the Algonquin Police Department's Click It or Ticket campaign throughout May, 16 seat belt enforcement zones were set up in addition to regular patrols and traffic assignments. This resulted in 507 seat belt tickets, 82 of them for child passenger safety violations. And 81 tickets were issue between midnight and 3 a.m., considered the deadliest time to drive in Illinois. In addition, Algonquin made nine arrests for DUI, 18 for driving on a suspended license and 10 for driving without a valid license.

Community garage sale

The South Elgin Rehabilitation and Health Care Center will hold a community garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, at 746 W. Spring St., South Elgin. Participants may set up their own garage sale and keep their profits or donate items for the rehabilitation staff to sell and raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. LITH paving project wrapping up

Final asphalt work on Pyott Road near Lake in the Hills Airport began Tuesday. Workers will apply a tack coat and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, they will paving the asphalt. Pavement marking and striping starts the following week. The project is due to be completed Thursday June 13. For details, call the public works department at (847) 960-7506.
