Memorial Day observances in Lake County
Many Lake County communities are having parades and ceremonies to mark Memorial Day. Here is what's going on in your community:
Freedom fest:
The Veterans Association, Milburn Masonic Lodge 127, and Jesse Oaks have teamed up to host the first Freedom festival on Saturday, May 29. This fundraiser is designed to raise awareness and money for military veterans. Proceeds will go to assisting veterans with disabilities and families of the fallen. The event is being held at Jesse Oaks Bar and Grill, 18490 W. Old Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake. The event will include food, games, Baggo tournament, 50/50 raffles, great prize raffles and a silent auction. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Suckerpunch Band in Leinie's Lodge, located in the back of Jesse Oaks. The Patriot Riders will be there in addition to the Save A Vet Foundation. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the music begins at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event may be purchased at the door for $8. Food will be available for purchase. The event is being held on Memorial Day weekend to highlight the service and sacrifice that veterans have made for our nation. A special tribute and wall of remembrance to Lake County's veterans will be on display. For more information, contact Ben Diamond at (414) 234-7317 or Dave Koss at (847) 361-8394.
