Apology not needed, Wheaton parks
I was surprised to see the Wheaton Park District made a public apology for a song that was played at one of their public events. According to your May 19 article, Kevin and Christy Kozlowski sent a letter to the park district complaining about a Christian song that was played at their daughter's ballet recital that offended them because they are apparently not Christians.
In this age of tolerance I was surprised to see that the park district does not subscribe to this tolerance philosophy. We are all exposed to ideas, and events of which we do not agree; that is called life and if we are going to be tolerant then we need to support that.
It appears that the park district needs to figure out which direction they are going to go instead of tucking their tail between their legs each time someone writes a letter and complains - that could get exhausting for them.
Open Question: What is the park district's tolerance philosophy, anyway? It looks as though it is "selective tolerance" and those two words do not go together.
