Pedestrian killed by train in Crystal Lake

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train on Thursday in Crystal Lake.

The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. on the Union Pacific Northwest Line, about a quarter-mile east of the Pingree Road station.

The victim's identity was not released.

The outbound train was delayed nearly two hours after the crash, Metra officials said. Service later resumed on the line.

Crystal Lake police are investigating.
