Teens accused of breaking into Wood Dale school as prank
Three teens are accused of breaking into a Wood Dale school early Monday as part of a senior prank.
Daniel Eggert and Alexander Ribierre, both of Wood Dale, and Alex E. Miles of Bensenville, all age 18, were charged with criminal trespassing and underage drinking, officials said. Eggert also was charged with criminal damage to property, police said.
Wood Dale police responded to a burglar alarm call just before 1 a.m. Monday at Oakbrook Elementary School, 170 S. Wood Dale Road, and saw people running in the school hallways. Officers cordoned off the school with help from police in Addison, Bensenville, Itasca and the Schaumburg K-9 unit.
After about 15 minutes, Ribierre and Miles surrendered voluntarily and were taken into custody, police said. But when officers learned a third suspect was still in the school, the K-9 unit entered the building to find Eggert, who was also taken into custody without incident, said officials.
The teens told police they entered the school through a window to rearrange some furniture as part of a senior prank; all three graduated from Fenton High School on Sunday afternoon. They had also consumed alcohol at an unknown location before entering the school, officials said.
All three suspects were released on $1,000 bond, police said. They are scheduled to appear in DuPage County Court on June 28.
