Hawks are a hot ticket - and getting hotter

Want to support the Blackhawks in person this weekend?

Well, you're going to have to fork out some pretty big dough to get it done via resale ticket sites such as StubHub.

According to the folks at StubHub, the Blackhawks rank second in ticket prices for the NHL conference finals, averaging $290 per ticket, trailing Montreal ($439) but ahead of both San Jose ($236) and Philadelphia ($172).

As of Thursday afternoon, the average ticket cost for Game 3 Friday at the United Center was $281 and jumped to $292 for Game 4 on Sunday. That compares to an average ticket price of $243 for the opener in San Jose and $209 for Game 2. The first two games in Philadelphia averaged between $155 and $162.

If the series advances to a Game 6 at the United Center, the average ticket price is at $344 and probably climbing.

And if the Hawks make it all the way to ... you know, prepare for the price to more than double.

According to StubHub spokesperson Joellen Ferrer, "swarms of fans" have already bought Stanley Cup tickets on contingency for an average price of $674 for the potential four Blackhawks games.

Ferrer said more fans have purchased tickets to potential Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals games than any of the other "probables" (aka Flyers, Lakers, Celtics) for the postseasons in both the NHL and NBA.
