Stop paying salaries 'til budget balanced
As I watch the political bickering going on in Springfield regarding the financial mess in which we find our state, it occurred to me that one of the obvious steps to help remedy the situation has not been suggested - no pay (including retirement and benefits) for any current or past governor, legislator or staff members until the budget is balanced.
The logic for this is simple. First, these are the people who got us into this mess. It wasn't you, it wasn't me, it was them. Second, what better way to "encourage" them to solve the problems.
Come to think of it, how about enacting legislation or a constitutional amendment that makes this the law of our state? It is high time for us to tell Springfield, past and present, that we will no longer stand for their political incompetence. Either solve the problems that you created, or you don't get paid.
