Cutting underclass sports a problem

It concerns me that School District U-46 is considering cutting freshmen and sophomore teams from all sports in high school. I believe that any sport that is available in the high school should not be cut from the system for freshman and sophomore students/athletes. Without being able to prepare at the beginning years of high school can make it extremely difficult for one to make the team at a varsity level. With no proper preparation, it will not cause any success. Not to mention with the way society is today and its high rates of obesity, schools should be doing everything possible to keep kids active and healthy.

Without giving underclassmen the opportunity to participate at the freshman or sophomore level may cause them to go directly home, and a greater chance of street trouble, such as gangs, drugs and fights. Cutting freshman and sophomore teams is the wrong answer. Athletes strive to be the best at what they do, so why only give them varsity level ability to do so when most are not at that point yet?
