Saturday's Fox Valley roundup
Hampshire 2, Richmond-Burton 1: The Whip-Purs (17-5-1, 9-0-1) came out strong to defeat Richmond-Burton and win the Big Northern East title outright.
"The girls played hard once again this morning. It was tough playing a morning game after such an emotional game (Friday) night (against Burlington Central). It was a nice turnaround though, and to get the bad taste of last night's dominating performance that resulted in a disappointing tie out of our mouth," said Hampshire coach Patrick O'Brien. "These girls have done a tremendous job going undefeated as conference champions in back-to-back seasons."
Cassie Dumoulin found the back of the net off a feed from Emily Zeller to put the Whips up 1-0 in the first half. Alex Field then recorded a goal in the second half off an assist from Kelsey Burke to give Hampshire the victory. Haylee Moscato turned away 5 shots on goal for the Whip-Purs.
Glenbard East 3, Streamwood 0: The Sabres battled tough, but saw their season came to an end Saturday as they were defeated by Glenbard East in the Class 3A Streamwood Regional. Brianna Roppo registered 10 saves in goal for the Sabres.
