No wonder they call it 'snail mail'

I am a member of the Senior Council of Bloomingdale Township. Our local senior center mails out a time-sensitive newsletter every other month.

Called Senior Connection, it lists all of our upcoming events and the dates that you can register for them. Senior center management has worked with the U.S. Post Office in every way possible, but most of the time they are not delivered in a timely manner. Senior Connection is hand-delivered to the Carol Stream Post Office and receives a date/time stamped receipt.

On April 27, at 10:30 a.m., the Senior Connections were hand-delivered to the Carol Stream Post Office, yet we received our newsletter on May 6. That's 10 days to get from Carol Stream to Bloomingdale. According to other seniors I've talked to from Roselle and other affected communities, this is the norm. This is outrageous.

I urge all Seniors to complain to their local Postmasters about this delayed delivery. The Postal Service complains that e mail is taking away all their business, but when they get mail they let it sit around before deciding to deliver it. I would like to know what their problem is and how it can be solved. It's no wonder they call this "snail mail."
