Who are teacher unions protecting?

To the May 9 Fence Post contributor, I agree that teachers deserve a fair and adequate pension. However, you stated that the teachers unions exist to protect the teachers, who are often little people, against administrators.

May I ask why, then, are administrators receiving millions of dollars in pensions and you and others like you a small fraction of that? Who are these unions protecting?
