Spring art show bursts with color
Yellow House Artists, an organization of artists who work in oil pastel and/or oil stick, present their spring show, "Bursting with Color" from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 7 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., Geneva.
The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, during the First Friday Gallery Walk in downtown Geneva. Art will be for exhibit and sale.
This show will feature original paintings by 22 artists. Participating artists include: Laverne Bohlin of Aurora; Eve Sofferman of Bartlett; Gracia Stuessy of Batavia; Eileen Bosic of DeKalb; Mary Enck, Kristine Karl, and Fran Stilwagner, all of Geneva; Carol Gorman of Glen Ellyn; Lillian Pagni of Hampshire; Andrea Brim of Lincolnshire; Susan Bruce, George Bruce, and Maureen McKee, all of Naperville; Dotti Matson of Oswego; Sandy Povall Smith, Teri Tossey, Jo Cawthra and Patricia Van Dusen, all of St. Charles; Deann Alleman and Louise Rand, both of Sugar Grove; Bette C. Costello of West Dundee; and Ellen Shelhamer of Wheaton.
Yellow House Artists is a group of oil pastelists who promote both their art and the medium.
These artists have been painting together at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles and/or the DuPage Art League in Wheaton with artist and teachers George Shipperley and Carol Zack.
The group originated with 17 oil pastel artists who had a gallery in a yellow house during the 2007 St. Charles Fine Art Show.
