Fire destroys Cary shed

Fire destroyed a shed and damaged the roof of a garage near Cary Tuesday afternoon. Water tankers staged at a nearby golf course were used to douse the fire on the 2500 block of Grove Lane in unincorporated McHenry County due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area, Cary fire officials said. A man who lives three houses away discovered the fire, called authorities and then notified the homeowner, officials said. A damage estimate was not available Tuesday night.
