No one hurt in Hinsdale bus accident

No one was injured when a charter bus carrying students from Hinsdale Middle School struck a utility pole outside their school Friday morning.

Captain Rick Ronovsky, of the Hinsdale Fire Protection District, said the bus was leaving the school at about 4:35 a.m. on South Garfield Avenue for a weekend retreat when the bus hit a utility pole, knocking over the power lines in the process.

He said a couple students received minor injuries in the accident, but all were treated and released to parents at the scene.

"Everyone on the bus was looked over, but none required transport to a hospital," he said.

He said Garfield was shut down between First and Third avenues while ComEd made repairs to the power lines in the area.

Ronovsky said a second bus was called to the scene and the students will make their way to their intended destination.
