Researchers join National Academy of Sciences
WASHINGTON -- Scientists from three Illinois universities have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Election to the academy recognizes achievements in original research.
Physics professor Nigel Goldenfeld of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, was newly elected this week. Also elected were geophysical sciences professor David Jablonski of the University of Chicago, chemistry professor Chad Mirkin of Northwestern University and chemistry professor Richard Van Duyne also of Northwestern University.
The academy acts, upon request, as an official adviser on science and technology to the federal government.
