Join the fight against new taxes

Please help to fight against new taxes. I am on a fixed income. The layering of taxes on taxes is killing me.

I need to be able to forecast my expenses in order to stretch my savings. I worked for some companies that cut benefits across the board, benefits and pensions, for current and retired employees. We accepted this because the company needed to make this choice in order to remain competitive.

I think the state needs to look in the mirror and make the same tough choices. I do believe there will be a state tax increase. I think they need to determine the dollar amount needed to provide the services for the state; it's called a budget. Set the tax rate; 2 percent, 3 percent, 4 percent, whatever.

Eliminate the utility tax on residential electric, telephone, Internet, natural gas, and cable TV. The utility tax is inflationary and not deductible. We already pay federal, state, and local taxes for the use of the Internet.
