Carmel sweeps Nazareth: Carmel rolled up the hits all day long in getting two wins over Nazareth, 9-2 and 7-5.

In the first game, the Corsairs pounded out 14 hits and Chris DiVarco led the way with a home run and a 3-for-4 overall performance at the plate. Jimmy Spagna, who finished with 2 hits, added a double.

Paul Poirier picked up the win on the mound. He struck out five and gave up only 1 walk.

In the second game, Carmel tallied 9 hits and got a home run from Derek Jordan.

Pitcher Daniel Mooney entered the game with Carmel trailing 5-3 and took care of the final three innings without giving up a run.

Grayslake North 8, Cary-Grove 7: Cary-Grove scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Grayslake North held on for the win.

The Knights (2-18) got 2 hits, both doubles, from John Romanski while teammates Ed Tatera and Andrew Solis also finished with 2 hits, including one double apiece.

Tatera also got the victory on the mound. He went the distance and struck out five while walking just two.

Stevenson 4, Rolling Meadows 0: Pitcher Brian Boyle (1-0) got his first victory of the season in going the distance for Stevenson. He rolled up 4 strikeouts without a walk in seven innings.

Jeff Ferstein, Teddy Heiser and Kyle Ruchim all had doubles for the Patriots, who improve to 17-1 with their 12th win in a row.

Grayslake Central 5, Huntley 0: In a game that was called after six innings due to bad weather, pitcher Nick Richter ran his record to 3-0 on the mound with the victory. He recorded 3 strikeouts and gave up just 1 walk.

"Nick did a great job of mixing in his pitches and we made some solid defensive plays behind him," Grayslake Central coach Troy Whalen said.

Offensively, the Rams (13-5) got 3 hits from Josh DeAngelis, 2 hits, including a double, from Kevin DeRue and a double from Andrew Hosford. DeRue's double broke a scoreless tie in Grayslake Central's four-run second inning.
