There's no such thing as poverty in America

Whenever the liberal progressives push social justice they always point to the poor as examples. They tug at your heart and if you don't agree they ask, why you don't like the poor?

What is real poverty? The earthquake in Haiti is a good example. Food, shelter and water are hard to find. Disease is prevalent and medicines are scarce. Some African Nations are even worse off. Millions are homeless and have no access to food, clothing or medicine and die as a result.

In comparison there is no poverty in America.

We have welfare and public housing. How many on welfare have color TV sets, cable and internet-access? Food stamps keep them from starving. If they get sick there are hospitals and free clinics for treatment. Is this poverty? They are not dying in the streets as we are led to believe.

The real poor in our country are those living on the street. You occasionally see them but they usually shy away from the public eye. I admire these people only because they refuse to be involved in the welfare society. They basically just want to be left alone and that's what most Americans want from their government. "Just leave us alone!" Stay out of our wallets and our lives.
