Suspension coming for Hossa?

Will the Blackhawks have Marian Hossa for Game 6 on Monday night in Nashville?

That's up to the NHL to decide with Hossa facing a possible suspension for his major penalty for boarding Predators defenseman Dan Hamhuis with 1:03 to play in regulation on Saturday.

The Hawks trailed 4-3 with goalie Antti Niemi pulled for a sixth attacker when Hossa went in hard on the forecheck and shoved Hamhuis shoulder first into the end boards.

Hossa received a major penalty but wasn't ejected, which turned out to be good for the Hawks since the star winger wound up winning the game with an overtime goal.

Hamhuis didn't return.

"The guy turned his back on me and I couldn't stop," Hossa said. "I don't try to hit a guy like that.

"Obviously, you don't try to hit a guy like that. I was hoping to get two minutes, but I got five and stayed in the game. Lucky for me and I get the OT goal."

Naturally, Hossa doesn't want to miss Game 6.

"It's up to the league," Hossa said. "I'm not that kind of player and they know that. I just tried to finish the check but the guy at the last moment turned his back and I couldn't stop myself. I don't try to hurt anybody."

Predators coach Barry Trotz thought the play was identical to Alex Ovechkin shoving Hawks defenseman Brian Campbell into the end boards on March 14 and breaking Campbell's collarbone.

Ovechkin was ejected from that game and hit with a two-game suspension as a repeat offender.

"What's the difference between the Campbell hit and Ovechkin?" Trotz said. "I can't see the difference."

Hamhuis said he would let the league decide if there should be a suspension.

"I don't know how it looked, but I was in a vulnerable position going back for a puck like that," Hamhuis said. "Usually along the boards they give you a little

more respect.

"I think any time there's a five-minute boarding call they're going to take note and there's always the possibility of getting kicked out and there still could be repercussions from the hit."

Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said the call could have been argued any number of ways.

"He's got the puck and he's sideways," Quenneville said. "It's not from behind."
