Grayslake Central's girls soccer team earned - what else? - high fives.
The Rams won their fifth game in a row Thursday, as they edged host Woodstock 2-1.
Kelly Jay and Allie Black each notched her fifth goal of the season, and Allison Mitchell had her fifth assist.
"I think it was the day of fives today for our girls," said coach Mike McCaulou, whose Rams improved to 8-6 and 4-3 in the Fox Valley Conference. "The girls played great. We gave up an unfortunate goal in the first half."
Lakes 6, Richmond-Burton 0: Six girls scored for the Eagles in their own invitational game.
Leah Baker, Alex Neal, Brittany Mooney, Michelle Kosmen, Ashley Neubeck and Hanna Jewell were the goal scorers for Lakes, which led only 1-0 at halftime.
Neal added 2 assists, while Mooney, Neubeck and Katie Mason also assisted on goals.
Sarah Fitzpatrick made 4 saves in goal in earning her fourth shutout.
Lakes improved to 8-5 and 2-0 in the tournament.
Woodstock North 4, Antioch 2: Melissa Spooner and Sara Knupp scored for the Sequoits (4-7, 1-1) in a Lakes tournament match that was scoreless at halftime.
Grayslake North 1, Zion-Benton 0: Katie Lahera scored off an assist from Hannah Mitchem in the first half, as the short-handed Knights won the Lakes tournament game.
Brooke Sauer made 6 saves in net to notch her sixth shutout.
Grayslake North (8-6-1, 1-1) played without three starters due to injury or the flu.
The Knights host Crystal Lake Central at 6:30 p.m. today.
Geneva 1, Lake Zurich 0: At Barrington, the Bears' loss dropped them to 5-5-1.
Vernon Hills 6, Waukegan 0: At Lakes, Jessica Feece and Alex Goldstein each scored twice for the Cougars.
Kathryn Redig and Brie Bahlman also scored for Vernon Hills (2-5-1), which led 3-0 at halftime.
