Prospect edges Wheeling

Prospect won this battle, but Wheeling is still winning the war.

The Knights edged Wheeling 9-8 on Tuesday, leaving both teams win 1 loss in Mid-Suburban East play - each coming against the other.

But Wheeling won by 3 goals in the first meeting, giving them a 2-goal advantage in total goals, and therefore an edge in the first tiebreaking criterion toward who would represent the Mid-Suburban East in the league championship game.

Fremd 15, Palatine 7: Erika Lauraitis scored 9 goals to help keep Fremd unbeaten and in command of the Mid-Suburban West with a 15-7 victory over host Palatine.

Megan Kennedy had a pair of goals for the Vikes (23-0, 9-0), and Emily Orlowski, Carly Gessert, Sam DelPrado and Lauren Zambelli each scored once.

Palatine got 2 goals from Katie Brown.
