Hanover Township and Comcast host technology fair
On Saturday, April 24, more than 4,500 local Comcast employees and their families and friends will volunteer to improve the lives of residents in over 60 communities in Illinois as part of Comcast's ninth "Comcast Cares Day." At the same time across the country, more than 55,000 Comcast volunteers will participate in this annual day of service, which is one of the largest single days of corporate volunteer efforts in the country.
Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast helps to power dreams and demonstrate a year-round commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves.
Comcast friends and family members will be working with Seniors at the Hanover Township Senior Center to introduce them and teach them ways to embrace technology. Workshops will include downloading family photos from digital cameras to setting up a free e-mail accounts to use in conversing with family and grandkids. One-on-one training will also take place on saving favorite TV channels for future viewing and challenging yourself and others in a Wii fit challenge. All held within the Hanover Township Senior Center building, Comcast will be providing free breakfast and lunch to registered participants.
"Comcast Cares Day is a tradition that began in 2001 and since then more than 230,000 Comcast volunteers have donated nearly 1.4 million hours of service," said Comcast senior vice president of the Chicago Region, LeAnn Talbot. "It is truly inspiring to be a part of such a collaborative effort that helps so many people and organizations in the communities we serve."
"We're so honored to partner with Hanover Township Senior Services to work together to improve our seniors lives and provide them with technology skills necessary in this new era," added Jim Brown, senior business account executive with Comcast. "I'm grateful to the 50 Comcast Cares Day volunteers who will be donating their time to help make such a big difference."
