Quenneville changes lines, reunites Keith, Seabrook
Blackhawks coach didn't waste any time shuffling the deck following Friday's Game 1 loss to Nashville.
The biggest change is on defense, where Olympians Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook will be reunited after a few weeks apart.
"We know it's been a while since they've been playing together, but we know that's a great tandem and they work well together, so we expect that to be solidified," Quenneville said.
Niklas Hjalmarsson will play with Brent Sopel while Dustin Byfuglien goes from skating with Keith to be paired with Jordan Hendry.
"Things change around here all the time so you just never know," Byfuglien said. "I'll probably be back with Keith tomorrow, so who knows?"
Quenneville is confident Hjalmarsson can play big minutes with anyone, which allows him to put Keith and Seabrook back together.
"That pair (Keith and Seabrook), they play a lot of minutes, they're familiar with one another and I just think that's a good option for us," Quenneville said. "Hammer is very reliable as well, and dependable. It doesn't matter whether he's playing with Sopel or Byfuglien.
"As a group of six, I'm still comfortable with the pairings and the familiarity of Duncs and Seabs is something we can use to our advantage."
Up front, Andrew Ladd will skate with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, adding some jam to the first line.
Patrick Sharp drops back to the second line with Dave Bolland and Patrick Kane while Troy Brouwer moves to the third line with John Madden and Kris Versteeg.
The fourth line of Colin Fraser, Tomas Kopecky and Ben Eager stays intact.
"Everyone is pretty interchangeable in here," Ladd said. "We'll just switch a couple things up and come out and try to get a win."
